When I copy files from either a parallels shared folder from Linux, or from a samba share from the network (different machine), into winxp, they allways show up as read only even though they are not in Linux or on the server. I change the files to remove the read only, and I can open the files in the application, (they are text files), but when I try to save them, it comes up they are locked or disk is full. I then take a text editor, textpad, open the text file in it, add a space and remove it, then save it. If I open it in the application again, make modifications, it will then save. Seems to me there is a major bug in the parallels interface ass this did no happen using winxp booting normally from the same machine and using the same network server. I can also copy files from Winxp to either the linux host or the server, no problelm. It also very slow when you right-click a file on the parallels share, like 30 seconds for the window to come up to copy or look at properties. With the network server, this is not the case. Need to find an answer ASAP, or I will have to go back to dual booting winxp again. Art
I changed the acceleration from fast to Normal, now it works with the Samba Server. One thing I noted, the parallels shared folders do not display the "Date Modified" in windows explorer. I think that is one of the problems. It does display it on the Samba Server. If I edit a text file on the xp guest and save it, the "Date Modified" then shows and the application, which uses text file, will save the file, otherwise, it will open the file fine, but not save it after a change.
