WinXP VM with Maclook enabled (love the streamlined mac feel). Question simply is... how do you change the background color and have it remain the same color at next boot up? It always goes back to the blinding bright blue color every time I restart.

If you are talking about the windows desktop with your xp vm started/on
Start>Control Panel>Display>Desktop>select the background you wish then select Apply

I know how to do it once, but when the VM reboots it goes back to the blinding blue color. Where do I change it so that it boots up with my color (darker blue) every time? I'm asssuming it's a setting in a config file in stardock somewhere... but where exactly I'm asking.

Have you installed Parallels tools? If not please do so.

To keep the settings you must select Apply

you can select color of background or a background image by:
Start>Control Panel>Display>Desktop>select the background or color you wish then select Apply

This will not change Microsoft's start screen

sigh... again i know how to change the background color in the VM. If Maclook is off and you change the windows background to black and reboot the VM the black background stays.

The issue is with Maclook ON it resets to the bright blue color every time you reboot the VM. And yes obviously Parallels tools are installed. I've been a Parallels user since PD2.

    Sorry reedmj,
When I have my xp set to MacLook I can change my desktop to any color or any image I wish, and it will remain there, until I change it. That is why I asked about Parallels Tools.
You are referring to the desktop once the vm is loaded, not the Microsoft's welcome screen?

Yes, I'm referring to the Windows XP (VM) desktop color, not the welcome screen. If I change the color with Maclook on, it will reset the desktop color to the light blue the next time I reboot the VM.

    Hi reedmj

I found this knowledge base article: http://kb.parallels.com/en/6858 in it it states:
    Note:
This theme is available for Windows XP , Windows Vista and Windows 7 guest operating systems with up to date Parallels Tools installed.
To be able to use this theme, you need to log in to Windows as an administrator.

Could it be possible that you are not logged in as an Administrator when attempting to change the color or your Parallels Tools are not up to date?
