I thought I would fix my too-small partition problem by creating a second disk image then use Ghost to clone the original small "partition" to the new one then just make the new one my boot image (essentially the same process I've used time and time again to swap out a primary hard drive for a new one). I booted from the Ghost CD successfully but when I started the Ghost.exe program, the Mac just rebooted. No message, no warning, just a black screen then the gray startup. I tried installing Ghost and using the clone option from that. When you do that, the Ghost files are installed on the machine and that option changes your boot menu (boot.ini) to have a Ghost option. Following a guest OS reboot and choosing the Ghost boot menu choice, the same Mac reboot occurs. Now, unfortunately, I can't get back to the guest OS since even the "Don't run Ghost, just return to Windows" boot menu option also causes an immediate reboot. Good thing I backed up. It would be great if I could just boot from the Ghost CD and run Ghost.exe from there. Any suggestions why this doesn't work? It boots the PC-DOS 6 just fine and only reboots when I start Ghost.exe
Thanks for reporting - we will fix this. Try to uncheck VT-x in VM configuration when working with Ghost, until solution arrives - it should help.
I have a bootable DVD with both the Ghost utility and a company standard XP disk image. I am succesful in creating a new 'Typical' VM, turning VT-x OFF, and then booting from the DVD and running Ghost to image the VM. It DOES work. And it did crash/reboot the Mac everytime untill I turned off VT-x. (THANKS Andrew!!) However, now when I startup that VM, it will crash (fatal error) right after the little gray progress bar completes. I did e-mail the crash report yesterday, but in the mean time, any suggestions?? Deploying a standard configuration is a critical need. Darrin
I just uninstalled B6 and installed the new RC and get the same results trying to create a new VM and install a Ghost disk image of XP. However now, the startup of the VM just stalls with the black screen and gray progress bar filled. Anyone? Andrew, are you there? Should this work? Desperately, Darrin.
