Mac OS X Sound Troubles (or Cheeky Parallels Ganking My Sounds)

I don't know if this is Parallels Worksta...er, Desktop related but my wife's Mac mini is now having intermittent sound troubles. Typically her system will not have any sound at startup (No chime and the Intel High Definition Audio is absent from the System Profiler) and generally wont get sound unless you restart the system a few times and let it sort of warm up.

These quirks didn't exist before beta 5 or so and Parallels is the only software we've installed or goofed with. I figured it might be the culprit since it is pre-release and sometimes the Mac side will lose sound but the Parallels VM still has perfect sound. Any ideas on how to fix this? Should I uninstall Parallels and re-install it later?
