I have Prlls 4.0.3844 and Windows XP Home

XP can see the router and all other intranet devices. THe DSL router can see the Xp connection

All was working well untill I intstalled a recent SP3 . Although I was fully able to access my intranet..I could not get to the internet.

I have tried all of the suggestions I have seen in other posts:
Bridged vs Shared (I've always used bridged)
All op sys have been rebooted

In the course of all of this.. I have lost the Paralles ethernet Adaptor . in Windows. I first beed to recover that and then see what else might be amiss.

SO the first question is.. how can I recover the P adaptor..without internet conenctivity ?

    Thnx

Actually, first of all, since you have mentioned that this has started since the SP3 upgrade, check the following article: here.
Basically, if there is no internet connectioin and the following sypthoms:
    ping by IP works
    ping by hostname does not
    nslookup works
Then you would need to uninstall SP3 and then security update KB951748 (you can not remove it without removing SP3).

As for Parallels ethernet adapter, did you check the driver status for Parallels network adapter? You might need to reinstall Parallels Tools and/or remove and add back the Network Adapter from Parallels Configuration. (remove, start the VM, shut down, add back, start VM again).

    XP3 Update ruined DNS

I looked around thru the net and apparently this problem has been around for some time.

    I uninstalled SP3..and ! It's working again.

Thank you very much for pointing this out.

Thanks MS..between virus makers and MS tryin to fix em.. it's no wonder we're looking to go to MACS !
