I read some posts that a few got this to work. For the life of me I can't get the 880 remote to connect to the Harmony Software. It keeps telling me that the remote is in use by another process or something like that, and to unplug it and wait 5 to 10 seconds. I do that and the message still comes up. They only program I have running is Parallels.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,
    AL

Alas, I cannot help you. I have a new Logitech Harmony 885 and I have the same issues. Parallels says the device is in use and recommends me to shut down the software using it.

Problem: How can I discovered which process on the Mac OS X would keep Parallels from grabbing access to this device ???? I carefully checked and don't seem to find any piece of software on the Mac OS which would have any reason to access that device.

    Funny enough!
Minutes after posting the above I had the idea to swith my VM to NOT auto-connect USB devices. Once XP rebooted, I used the VM Devices menu to select the Harmony remote (presented with a funny name like 'Composite 046d:c110' and XP detected and configured the device !!!!

I am posting this even before having tested further, but this is a really good news.

There is a native OS X version of the Harmony 880 updater. Log into your Harmony account, More Options, then Downloads I believe. No need to use Parallels to manage your Harmony remote.

    No harmony for Intel Macs

Turns out there is still no working OSX Harmony software if you own an Intel mac. Am I hearing that someone has actually gotten this to work under Parallels?

    Pleeeeze confirm.

    thx

With all due respect, it does work in Intel OS X.
I downloaded version 5.3.2.10 from VersionTracker: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21994 and successfully updated my 880 remote.

I'd suggest removing any older installations from your Applications folder and the Harmony kernel extension from /system/library/extensions before installing.

You need to go into the Harmony remote preferences and tell it to watch the same download folder as Safari (their instructions).

The Harmony remote is PowerPC but works perfectly in Rosetta in Intel OS X. You do not need Parallels to maintain your Harmony remote.
