Linux VM crashes after Mac wakes up from sleep

I'm running a Gentoo VM (Kernel 2.6.19-gentoo-r5, no X11) within Parallels with 256MB RAM and 512MB swap (which isn't in use most of the time) assigned on my MacBook (Core Duo/2GHz/2GB RAM/OS X 10.4.8).
When I used Build 1970, the VM became unresponsive about one in three times after my Mac woke up from sleep, using about 100% CPU time of one CPU core. After upgrading to Build 3186, I have the same problem each time the Mac wakes up. There are no pointers to any malfunction in the Linux system's log files, and I'm running mostly the same Linux setup without any problems on my generic AMD desktop box.
Is this a known problem? Any solutions?
