Here's the scenario: A brand-new Macbook Pro, 10.6.3, 4GB RAM, Parallels 5.0 One VM running CentOS 5.5 (64-bit). Hosting an Oracle 11gR2 database. One VM running LinuxMint 9 (64-bit). Configured to run Oracle Instant client. I have tried using shared networking, bridged networking and host-only networking, but I cannot get the client to "see" the Oracle server. Ideally, I would ultimately like the Mac (and external clients) to access the Oracle db. Oracle SQLNET works on the server. But not on the other machine(s). I confess, networking isn't my strongest suit, and using virtual networking makes it even cloudier. I'd like to use fixed IP addresses, or find a way to have the hostnames "seen." Tips? Pointers? I can't find info in the User Manual...
