Yes I know these questions have been posed in various forms in various threads...

First, has anyone gotten to the point where you can switch screen resolutions on the fly? The X server shortcuts Ctrl Alt + and Ctrl Alt - should cycle, but don't. xvidtune reports that modification of settings just isn't going to happen. Attempting for force a screen resolution switch with xvidtune -next results in a garbled screen.

Second, has anyone else noticed odd behavior in various window managers with arbitrary wide-format screen resolutions configured? If I run at 1152x720 (so that I can run windowed on my MacBook) Metacity (Gnomes WM) (usually) and Xfce's WM think I'm running at 1152x768. For those who have noticed this, how have you dealt with it, short of stacking panels at the bottom of the window.

How many resolutions are in your xorg.conf file? Did you define any custom video resolutions in your VM editor?

There are 4 different resolutions set in xorg.conf. Each works fine if it is set as the default. Custom resolutions in the VM editor match.
