I'm running Windows XP in Parallels Desktop in OS X, and having trouble getting online in XP.

I recently moved into the dorms on campus. I set up my MacBook with the campus internet. They said I'd be able to register my VM with them but for some reason it wasn't sending them a request, so I'm just trying to do internet sharing.

I followed the instructions to share internet with Paralles in the Parallels help files.

But for some reason only http works, no other online service works. I can view web pages in XP, but not use YIM, Ventrilo, or the Nintendo Wifi Connection dongle, which are the only three things I use XP for. I don't know whats wrong or how to fix it.

Try to use "Shared networking" mode - you can change in VM configuration in Network Adapter options. It is available in newest 1970 build.

Oh wow that solved the problem! Damn I've been trying to get this to work all week. Ongoing software development for the win. Thanks!
