I am desperate to run Quicken under Parallels. However this proves to be impossible with my existing (large) files. I get the following message: "Can't open file" and then "Unable to open selected file". I can start new files though. The total file size was 3.2Mb which I reduced following archiving to 2.3Mb. I tried this ut with the Ram set at 516MB and it did not make any difference setting it at 1500 Mb. Parallels support did not have any idea why this could be the case. There is no issue with the integrity of the file as it continues to run perfectly on my old PC.
Hope there is someone who can help me as it stops me from abandoning my old PC. Thanks, Leonard

My Quicken Data File is 24.5 MB and I have had no problems with it.

I am running Windows XP Professional, Quicken 2006 Deluxe and Parallels Build 3188 on an iMac. I am running the default memory size. My virtual hard drive is 8GB.

Thank you for the response. I am baffled: i am running the latest European Quicken version 2004. Quicken stopped supporting their customers in Europe which is difficult to understand. Where is your file stored? Mine is in a shared folder. With thanks for your help, Leonard

My Quicken files are in the c:/documents and settings/my documents/quicken/ folder.

However, I frequently do backups to the shared folder. I currently have at least 20 backups in the shared folder, each of which is 24MB +.

Maybe you should try putting your data file on your virtual hard drive and just use your shared drive for backup. Worth a try.
