Hi, I tried many times and it is not working at all. First time 1. I installed Compactor on Mac OS 10.4.6, MacBook Pro 2 GHz/ 1MB/ firmware 1.0.1 2. I started a VM running Windows XP2 (all windows updates done.) 3. I use Menu Devices, CD-DVD and connect the image. Compactor started by itself. It seems to run normally. 4. Windows was restarted automatically and while it was displaying progess bar to start again Compactor... 5. KERNEL PANIC! Second time I restarted the MacBook Pro and tried again the process. This time the result was different at the end: a) The Compactor application displayed a message that the disk compacting process was successful! b) Windows display a ballon from the bottom bar that disk was "low on space". c) Parallels application displayed this message: Process of compacting of the virtual hard disk /Disques Alu VPC/Disques Parallel/winxp2.hdd was abnormally terminated due to the error. Please run Parallels Image Tool utility and use 'Defragment expanding hard disk image' function to complete compacting of the virtual hard disk. I looked at the space of the .hdd file and it was gone from 3.65 to 4.32 after the compact process. So it had indeed increased space usage. I understood, the process was not successful at all. Third time I tried the to use the Parallels tool "Disk Compactor Tool" function (checking the Run all stages at once). It seems to run fine and restarted Windows and then a Kernel Panic occured (second one). Fourth time I just started Parrallels application with the VM closed. I went to Hard disk advanced tab and pressed the Compact button. I still get the message to use Parallels Image Tool utility. Where is located this UTILITY??? By the way, it will display wrong information next to the Compact button as my HD image is 365 MB (it is showing 4.32 GB, that is a difference of about 4 GB...) The whole process of compacting seems vey buggy for now. I see Parallels team is doing great job, and I am sure this will be addressed soon. Thanks, Luca This is the kernel panic log for the second time (sorry but the first time nothing was logged). panic.log : Description : Historique des erreurs graves (système) Taille : 6.78 Ko Dernière modification : 06-04-22 13:43 Emplacement : /Library/Logs/panic.log Contenu récent : ... 0x13c6b7bc : 0x128b5e (0x3bbeb8 0x13c6b7e0 0x131bbc 0x0) 0x13c6b7fc : 0x19caef (0x3c1340 0x0 0xe 0x3c10f8) 0x13c6b8ac : 0x197b53 (0x13c6b8c0 0x13c6b91c 0x2a8a6735 0x48) 0x13c6b8b8 : 0x2a8a6735 (0x48 0x1c 0x23de001c 0x1c) 0x13c6b91c : 0x2a8a9992 (0xdc5a7edc 0x1c 0x1c 0x63216e75) 0x13c6b94c : 0x2ae87127 (0x7edc5a7e 0xdc5a7edc 0x3b27b04 0x3e64dac) 0x13c6ba88 : 0x2a8a7a49 (0x7edc5a7e 0x0 0x0 0x0) 0x13c6bae8 : 0x2a8a7937 (0x3b27b04 0x13c6bed8 0x13c6bb08 0x198b25) 0x13c6bba8 : 0x2a8a73f1 (0x3b27b04 0x13c6bed8 0x18 0x197009) 0x13c6bd48 : 0x2a8a57c8 (0x3b27b04 0xc0185401 0x13c6bed8 0x1003) 0x13c6bd88 : 0x1e3d72 (0xd000000 0xc0185401 0x13c6bed8 0x81) 0x13c6bdc8 : 0x1dac2e (0x13c6bdf0 0x297 0x13c6be28 0x1c4423) 0x13c6be28 : 0x1d29c3 (0x3ac1840 0xc0185401 0x13c6bed8 0x81) 0x13c6be78 : 0x32550f (0x31fd230 0xc0185401 0x13c6bed8 0x3e64dac) 0x13c6bea8 : 0x343849 (0x31fd230 0xc0185401 0x13c6bed8 0x3e64dac) 0x13c6bf78 : 0x36d8e4 (0x3e64dac 0x2b3412c 0x2b34170 0x0) Backtrace continues... Hi, Sounds like a thriller 1. Kernel Panic - it was caused by Worksation, not Compactor with a very high probability. The problem should be fixed soon, with the next public release of PW. 2. Image Tool - will be available very soon. Thank you very much for reporting.
