After extensive troubleshooting I determined that Parallels was causing my Macbook Pro to crash and I had to boot to a Leopard boot DVD to run Disk Utility and repair. The error in the log was "Incorrect Block Count for the file PCSCD.PUB". I did the repair on the disk and and found this to happen Frequently. Basically the machine would get a kernel panic and completely freeze. Once I removed Parallels completely the machine is fine and fully operational. Has anyone seen this issue and is there a fix?

    Kernel Panic

I have just run into the same problem.... I have only run linux distros off of parallels. I then put windows xp sp3, so I could run some programs that I wanted to use then I started to get kernel panic problem. Here are the problems I have been having... any insight would be great.

I am on leopard 10.5.6 Build 9G55 and on Parallels 4.0. I have ubuntu and red hat also on it, but I dont think that has anything to do with it. It only crashes when I close the computer (on a laptop) or I let it be for awhile and it goes to power save mode then get the kernel panic. otherwise it runs fine. I have tried Time machine but I had it updated when I put the windows on so it has inherited the flaw. I cant think of anything else that would do it. Please help

I am getting the same problem. I didnt get the kernel panic untill I put Bill Gates shit on it (windows xp sp3) I am on 10.5.6 and parallels 4.0. I have successfully run linux distros off of 4.0 and had no problems. I get the kernel panic when I close the top to my laptop or I let it go past the screen saver. So heres the console log:

    same problem here.

I'll post a kp log when it happens again. It's been happening 1-2 times daily since installing Parallels 4 about 10 days ago.

    System Crash

Hi - I've been having the same problem for a few months now but not as often as many of you. I get crashes about 4 times per week. I have noticed that it is in time with the screen saver. Today my system crashed (15" MBP w/Parallels 4) and now Windows will not start. I keep getting a form to send to Parallels.

If anyone has any suggestions/solutions for this I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks - John

That same day I posted my reply (March 30th), I did a bunch of digging on a lot of web forums. I couldn't find anything definitive, but I did find a few posts that suggested that the wired ethernet driver may be the cause. Since I have good wireless in my office and at home, I stopped using wired ethernet.

I run VMs in shared mode over the Macbook's airport wifi. I haven't had a kernel panic since the day I posted that message. It was happening at least daily prior to that. I don't have any credible debugging info to offer. I can only say that I sopped using wired ethernet on the MPB and the KP stopped happening. It's a crappy workaround, because shared mode isn't always what I want, but I'm getting by (and no more KPs).

Interestingly, the few posts that suggested wired the might be the cause were older posts related to parallels 3. I didn't read them closely enough to realize that, and so I tried it. After a few days problem free, I looked up those posts (intending to pass the info to my IT department) and noticed that they related to Parallels 3.

    Crashes multiple times a day

I have parallels 3.0 installed on my MBP and lately it has crashed more and more. It freezes up with green lines running vertically over the screen. When I re-start by holding down the power button (the only thing I can do) it will start up with green lines five out of six times. It never gets past that. Here is one of the error messages:

It does this when waking from sleep (or the screen stays black), when someone start their Skype video, and it has happened while watching video too.

    How do I un-install Parallels??
