i have tried many times creating a fedora core 5 install. I use most all defaults, but i delete LVM partition in disk druid, and try to use 3.

    1. root -- "/"
    2. swap
    3. home "/home"

    + "/boot"

it installs flawlessly over my 5 cd's that i swap in and out.
upon reboot .. it gets fedora splash screen, then as it boots linux, immediate kernel-panic!

It is installed on a windows xp2 host

i did have it successfully install under LVM, but a day later, when i rebooted, the partition turned into a corrupted vm error during boot?

its an almost brand new dell XPS M170.

any insight would be greatly appreciated. (using parallels 2.1 version trial only)

I'd suggest trying the beta 2.2 and seeing if that can fix your problem.

    consistent result

i have to report after installing 2.2, i tried the same approach without any different results.
Is there any log that would help debugging the kernel dump ? Is fedora core 5 a bit too new to use ?

I doubt it's too new because I just tried the Edgy RC2 livecd and it worked without any problems.
Maybe you need to change the IDE channel for your hard drive?
Which kind of kernel panic do you get?
