Keeps asking for Tools installed

Hey...new user here.

The pop up window keeps asking for me to install parallel tools

so I hit install in the VM, install tools. it does nothing

I looked up on the forums, etc. and says that I should uninstall current tools? can't find this for the life of me...not finding anything named tools or vmtools in windows or mac both

what does the forum suggest?
