I understand that Microsoft has released a patch for Windows XP SP2 to improve performance with multicore processor systems (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896256).

I am currently using Parallels (build 3188) on a MacBook Pro (2.33 C2D), using a BootCamp partition. I'd like to install this patch on the XP BootCamp system for when I boot directly to XP with BootCamp - but has anyone tried this patch with this configuration? Will it cause any problems when I access the same BootCamp XP system via Parallels?

    Thanks,
    Ethan

Is this patch rolled out via Microsoft Update? If so...I've got a fully updated XP system in bootcamp (on a C2D Macbook Pro), and I'm not having any trouble accessing it in Parallels. I primarily use Coherence mode.

No, for some reason MS isn't pushing this out via MS Update. As far as I know the only way to get it is to download and install it manually.
