I am a tech that has to constantly deal with this nightmare program. I have installed this on many computers and all of them have had BIG issues.

Right now I am setting up fresh new Macbook Pro ...updated to 10.5.4 ...installed Parallels ....installed Parallels update ...Crash ...Crash ...Crash ...Crash ...Crash ...Crash

I would like to say this is the first time BUT IT IS NOT. Why does that pass as software people should serious consider as a valid application. IT IS NOT!!!

I hardly have the time to write this but this is just so god dam lame and it wastes my time and all the people that buy this program.

FIX YOUR CRAP BEFORE SELLING IT!!

    ARGGG

(insert lame ...but it works for me ...comment here)

So interesting.... I am not really that much of a tech and every time I have installed paralells, on my MacBook Pro. 10.5 (and those of two friends) It has been the finest example of a flawless piece of code that I think I have encountered. Maybe your (a) not reading the instructions or (b) too much of a tech! I truly believe that a little old lady could install parallels and Windows with no issues. I even had it work flawlessly when the Win2k upgrade disk had to call for an earlier and older version for authentication.

You're obviously disturbed at the moment but permit me to ask you a simple question, you being a 'tech' and all, why aren't you curious to know why Parallels works for other people and not for you? Perhaps it doesn't work for you because of bad karma. ;)

Well I am at home and chilled off now lol, but seriously... People try to return this wonderfull os emulator all the time where I work.

murmini... This is far from a "flawless piece of code" is far ....very very far soooo far I cant even see it, it is so far away form perfection. If you so strongly feel that way never download a update ever again :p

Specimen... I am slightly disturbed at the best of days. Observation is obviously a skill you are strong in. I am in the real world where "karma" does not play on the fact this software is not working for me or pretty much most of the customers I deal with on a daily basses. I have seen people lose money, data, and time with this program! I am familiar with some other os emulators on Windows and they never have issues out of the box like parallels has. I used to think parallels was a good program... it's not .....at all! If you want to play with a neato windows emulator so you can play your spider solitaire on your mac well this is it ...it is about as reliable as windows is.

Did you use updater for installing Parallels Desktop?
What is similar with those all Mac you got problems - in terms of installed drivers and software?

Sorry, my mistake, you're obviously the only person that uses Parallels professionally, the rest of us mere amateurs, me included, just play solitaire with it.

By the way, the 'bad karma' comment was a reference to your bellicose attitude, and being boisterous about your 'real' world which doesn't give much credibility, it's the type of attitude that doesn't motivate me or anyone, at all, to help, I think to myself: 'screw him, he deserves it'. That's bad karma for you boy.

John@Parallels "What is similar with those all Mac you got problems - in terms of installed drivers and software?"

    1) New Mac (has happened on Macbook, Macbook Pro and iMac.
    2) Installed all updates for 10.5.
    3) Installed parallels.
    4) Updated parallels to version Build 5608
    5) Software crashes 85% of the time.

I keep clicking to open parallels.... then crash and the occasional time it will open, when it does I will try to open a menu in parallels and that crashes on me.

So I have done everything right here and on multiple systems and it crashes on me. I have no clue where you can begin to help me aside from fixing your program.

I am not even getting into the problem with the people that have managed to get it working feel conformable with parallels then the whole thing dies on them.

I don't understand why don't you download and install build 5608 directly instead of going thru the update process when you know you'll have to install 5608, and that the update system was broken on some builds before (AND HAS BEEN FIXED). How to fix the mess you got there mister tech? Repair premissions, uninstall Parallels using the uninstall script of the latest build and install build 5608 directly. There, helped you more than I feel you deserve.

Then again, forget everything I said, I'm an amateur, I'm going back to Windows to play Solitaire, ta daa.

Are you sure about being in the real world and being a tech?

All the techs I know would have just downloaded the 5608 version and installed it directly instead of going thru the pain of installing and then doing the update.

Well, those would have been the not too bright ones. Considering the fact that you seem to install it so often, most of the others would have prepared an apple partition with the standard company provided images and made sure to just duplicate it on the new machines drive.

Maybe you are right, maybe it is not karma after all.

    Maybe it is you.

Your customers are being ripped off, not by Parallels, but by their 'techie'.

By the way, Parallels is not an emulator, it doesn't emulate another architecture, it let's you virtualize on the same architecture, it's a virtualization software.
