Is Kaspersky Free?

I removed AVG and installed Kaspersky because Parallels appeared to be saying Kaspersky would be free.

But the Kaspersky license key says it is good for a little under 1 year.

Does this mean "Free" means Free for One Year?

I guess I switch back to AVG at that point.

It would have been nice to know in advance though and avoid the two switches.
