When I connect my iPod touch through USB, XP acknowledges that it connected but it never shows under explorer or iTunes.

I go under DEVICES > USB > iPOD in Parallels to connect my ipod in Windows XP.

    I'm using Parallels Build 3214

    Any ideas?

    Hello,

in the Configuartion Editor of your VM, in the USB Controller tab, please, choose "Connect to Guest OS".

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

No "Connect to Guest OS" option available

I don't see an option for "Connect to Guest OS" under the USB Controller in the Configuration Editor.

What I see is "Device Status" which is checked "Enabled" and "Connection Options" which is checked "Connect USB devices automatically".

I am using build 3214 of Parallels. Is it possible this option is not available in this build?

Ok, please, try to uncheck this option and then, after plugging the iPod in, connect it manually (as you already did with the option enabled).

You can also try to back up your VM and download a 5160 build trial because it should work with devices better.

Such issue can happen because MacOS detects some devices automatically and "takes" them to its side so that Guest OS can't take it to its side. And probably such is indeed the case.

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

I unchecked and got the same results. XP acknowledges that a USB device was connected but iPod doesn't show in iTunes.

So I guess the only fix is to pay for an upgrade to 5160.

Just try the trial first, ok?
Bu don't forget to backup your VM beforehand.

    Best regards,
    Alicia.
