Internet connection / Parallels Tools won't install

Discussion in 'Installation and Configuration of Parallels Desktop' started by Parallels User, May 22, 2009.

  1. I've bought Parallels a few days ago. It all worked fine until I had an update from you. Everything works fine except the internet connection. I've tried to install Parallels Tools again but it keeps on freezing when installing. Please advice!

    Hello Koosv,

Please follow these steps as the Anti- Virus and the firewall are turned off.

    1) Go to Control Panel > Go to Add or remove program > Remove Parallels tools completely. If there are no tools then skip to step 3.
    2) Restart the Windows.
    3) Open Finder > Mac HD > Library > Parallels > Tools > prl_tools_win.iso > Copy the " Setup.EXE " to a USB Flash drive.
    4) Open Windows Operating System > go to My Computer > USB Flash drive > Double click on the " Setup.EXE " and allow it to install.

Please email us the status of the issue.

  3. Hi Peter,

Well it still doesn't work. It starts the installation but after a couple of seconds the green line just keeps on standing there with doing nothing. I see my harddrive doing something but also that stops after a while...

Anyway I can fix this problem? Already uninstalled Parallels and installed it again but it keeps on doing it. Problem is that I can do a total new installation of Parallels + Windows because there's some company software on it which is really hard to get...

    Best, Koos

  5. Hi Peter,

It keeps on freezing up. After i've changed every setting you said and started setup.exe it works till it says Registry sonething and then it keeps on being a green line inside the setup wizard.

    Please advice!

    Best, Koos

    This fix worked for me.

I was getting errors on parallels tools updates after upgrading from PD 3 >> 4.0.3844. The errors were "failed to install Parallels Shared Folders" and "failed to remove 'root enumerated device' unable to install Parallels paravirtualization tool" (or something like that).

After completing the process outlined by Peter, above, the Parallels Tools install finished without issue.
