Installing Parallels Tools, File Install Wizard not starting

I am an admitted newb. Need help with the basics on installing Parallels Tools on a new VM. Here is the scenario: installed Parallels on Mac just fine. Created virtual machine just fine. Then, go to install parallels tools. Use the install parallels tools from the Mac drop down menu. It then opens a window on the VM that shows two file folders, one of which is the "drivers." The new file installer wizard does not open up and walk me through the install. It's like it is just opening up a window in the VM with the raw file folders sitting there. Opening them does nothing but go deeper and deeper into the raw files. I can't seem to get it to actually install the Parallels Tools. Any suggestions, and thanks in advance, and Happy Thanksgiving. Getting this figured out will give me one major thing to be thankful for!
