Can anyone share there results when going from v5 to v7 ? It appears simple based on whats in the documentation. Too simple actually ? any gotchas anyone can share..
It appears after the install of v7 upgrade the next step is to open the Windows version ( PVM File) and its up and running.
I would appreciate any feedback on how your upgrade went.. Thanks

    Hello,

it is not clear from your post - have you already done an upgrade or not?

Between the version 5 and 7 main improvements made are connected with Tools performance and better appearance.

So there are no changes in hardware a if you would upgrade from version 3 or 4.

The only advice i can give you is to make a backup of your PVM file and remove Parallels Tools from Control Panel before the upgrade.

No I have not upgraded.. I just want to move from 5 to 7 .. the primary question I have is if I do the upgrade do I have to re-install Windows 7 or will it use the existing PVM loaded ? also if the upgrade is successful will I then be able to install LION and maintain the Desktop 7 instance or will that have to be re-installed ? Any advice is welcome

You do not need to reinstall Windows - you can use the excising and yes you can install Lion after you moved from v5 to v7 of Parallels.
