Hello, Just wanted to find out if it's worth it to buy another HD for my Mac Pro and move my XP VDD to it. It seems like it would improve performance. Has anyone done that? Thanks
There's no such thing as too much money, RAM, or disk space. That said, putting things you use at the same time on different spindles often speeds things up. Whether that would improve things for you depends on what your VM is doing and what your host is doing at the same time. Depending on what you are doing, you may see improvement by putting your whole VM on another spindle, or you may get more from putting two virtual disks on your VM and putting them on different spindles and splitting your data judiciously between them. Performance tuning is an IT sub-speciality, and very application specific. There's no general one size fits all answer. But you can't go wrong adding a fast disk to your machine. You won't slow it down, that's for sure.
