    Hi all,

I recently tried out the beta build 3036, installing Windows XP under it. After deciding to downgrade to the current stable build 1970, but retaining the same XP installation (i.e. not re-installing XP again), I got a message saying that my version of parallels tools was incorrect. I only received it once, but ever since I downgraded I've been noticing issues with my mouse, cd-rom drive and usb connections. I figure its because I have the 3036 version of parallels tools in my windows xp installation, when I should really have the 1970 version. Is there any way to manually install the right version of paralells tools in my windows xp virtual machine (so when I choose to "Install Parallels Tools..." from the file menu it installs the correct version)?

    Thanks for any help!

Go to the VM menu, and select "Install Parallels Tools". An info message will pop up and the installer will start. You will be asked if you want to remove the application. Click yes and follow it through. Now comes the bit windwoes is famous for, restart. After restart, install tools again, and yes, you'll get to do another restart.

That's really weird. How do you close Parallels?

If you can close Parallels, then you should be able to get to the VM menu to do "Install Parallels Tools". If you can't, then probably you need to start all over again.

    P-Tools.

i can call the PT-install menu but then i can't operate it anymore as it jumps into the windows os which doesn't allow me anymore to operate the PT-install process. so i had to go back to a clone.

    :(
just thought might be interesting for you.

    Achim.
