Hi I'm a licensed user of PD for Mac. I run PD on a Mac Book Pro. Up until an hour ago everything has been running as it should however i needed to reinstall "Garage Band' (a Mac product that come with the OS) and I foolishly 'Archive Installed' the OS as well. this has affected PD as when I try to open it I get the following: Parallels Desktop is unable to operate properly since it cannot communicate with one of its drivers. Try to restart the application to overcome this issue. If restart doesn't help, re-install Parallels Desktop. Note that Parallels drivers require a short time to be properly started and initialized. So you may need to wait a minute before trying to launch the application. I'm an Architect and use PD to run Windows XP Home Edition on which I have ArchiCAD 10 installed. I have a client presentation in 8 hours time and I'm wanting to know if I should reinstall PD, if so should I run the uninstaller first? Will the license code I was emailed work when I reinstall? Will all the Virtual Machines be OK after I reinstall? Regards John P
You need to reinstall Parallels. You don't need to run the uninstaller first. The license code will still work. In fact, you shouldn't be asked for it again as it's saved in a location that's unaffected by both the installer and uninstaller. Your virtual machines should be OK once you reinstall.
Parallels Cannot Locate Drivers - Solution I had the exact same problem. I can confirm that all I had to do was re-install the Parallels program (without even having to perform an uninstall), and it worked fine right after. I had to update the software after the re-install. None of my WindowsXP OS files were altered or lost in any way. MacBook Pro. OS 10.4.8. 2 GhZ Intel Core Duo. 1 GB RAM.
