    Hi,

I've installed Adobe Creative Suite 2 recently. When I paste a vector graphic into Illustrator the program crashes Parallels completely. The cursor starts flickering, then the VM closes and Mac OS X displays the "unexpected termination" message. However, a Parallels zombie process remains active. The Parallels Dock sign still shows the arrow and the Parallels process comes up in terminal when you input "ps -A". The process can't be killed, not even by "sudo kill -s kill <pid>".

    Has anybody experienced this, too?

    Best regards, Shaun.

I've seen this as well tho in my case its with a different aplication.
The flickering cursor starts and shortly thereafter becomes a beachball and not long after that Parallels dies with out any message. I can then restart parallels and reproduce the error without having to kill any processes or restarting OSX.

In my case a dialog comes up in my app and it appears to have some funky event handling enabled. The cursor flickers between the XP and OSX cursor for awhile and then beachballs.
Its interesting that the app has the ability to bring up osx cursor. You would think it shouldnt be able to do that. Thus my guess is the app events are intereacting with the PTools mouse drivers in an unexpected way.

You may be right with the assumption that the mouse driver and Parallels Tools although I guess that the flickering occurs due to an already crashed Parallels application, which loses the mouse focus to the OS again.

BTW, the bug is reliably reproducible. It occurs on every run of Illustrator, at some point within the first five minutes.

However, this is a serious bug for me. That the complete Parallels application can be crashed by quite ordinary Windows software is a huge drawback. I don't like to buy a CS2 license for Mac OSX because we a) already have a number of licenses for the Windows version and b) CS2 is significantly slower under Rosetta than in Parallels. And above all, it's not very rational not to wait for the next version (Universal Binary), which is announced for early 2007.

My question to the Parallels team is: Will the crashing issue be fixed. Can I do anything to aid in the process (submit crash log or else)?

    Kind regards, Shaun.

    Hello?

Due to this bug I had to install BootCamp and finally completely averted from Mac OS because that OS-switching got too cumbersome. Is anything going to be done about the problem?

    Bye.
