I have received a number of emails from Parallels about version 4 but was put off upgrading because version 3 worked very well for me and also because the upgrade price seemed high.

A week or so ago, I received another email from them about how much faster version 4 is, and how it will run Windows 7 RC. So I finally purchased a few days ago.

I upgraded my existing VM (Windows XP Pro SP3) to the version 4 format, remembering of course to back it up first.

I could not believe how much slower V4 as than V3. Even little things like bringing up a Windows Explorer window were slower than in V3.

I was so surprised that I really wanted t check that it wasn’t just me. So I uninstalled V4, reloaded V3 and tried again. Well, it’s like chalk and cheese. V3 is much snappier than V4, by a long way.

What’s happening Parallels?? What about the promises of speed increase? In fact, speed has gone down! I know you’ve added extra features but I would NEVER have upgraded if I’d know that despite your advertisements, V4 actually is slower than V3.

Hence the title of my thread. I DO feel cheated.

V4 has been out for quite a while now; this SHOULD be a mature product.

I’d appreciate a reply from someone at Parallels.
