Due to a problem in an existing Windows 7 installation under MacOSX 10.6.2 I had to completely reinstall v5.0, then Windows Vista, and finally re upgrade to Windows 7. The VM remains named Windows Vista. How do I rename the VM to whatever I want ie, Windows 7?

I know where the parallels file for the vm resides, but have seen previous posts (albeit for v 4.0 or 3.0) which suggests it is not quite as simple as renaming the .pvm file alone.

Thanks for any help or pointing me to proper docm.

I had a similar naming problem when trying to clone my bootcamp partition. Shutdown the VM. Open VM List and right click on the one you want to change - select configure. AFAIK you can rename the file whatever you want, but it only recognizes the change if you do it through VM List.
