How to reclaim disk space?

    Greetings.

I had an ubuntu vm running in Parallels desktop and then decided I wasn't using it frequently enough to warrant keeping it. Instead of using the delete assistant I just deleted the hdd and pvs files (because I didn't know any better). This removed the VM but I don't think it restored the disk space allocated to the VM. My Mac still reports that disk space as unavailable. How do I get this space back?

    Thanks!

The disk space allocated to the VM is... well, just the .hdd file itelf. If it's completely deleted instead of sitting in the trash bin, it should be reclaimed. Oh, and sometimes Finder is dumb. You might need to reboot your Mac in this case.

Unless he used a BootCamp partition.
