I often start a VM via an alias or from an Icon in my Dock but when I do thsi the main Parallels Desktop application, and the associated Control Centre window, opens as well. I really do not ant.need that. Since it is possible to run a VM in headless mode without Parallels Desktop opening there should be soem way to prevent this happening.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, that's definitely annoying! You're right--there is a way to run VMs without the Parallels app popping up. If you use prlctl in your alias instead, it should start the VM quietly in the background without opening the Control Center. Might be worth trying!

Sadly using prlctl start vmname starts the VM in headless mode (also not what I want). I want the VM to run in GUI mode without the main Parallels Desktop application also running. According to Parallels this isn't actually possible. It seems that GUI mode requires that Parallels Desktop is running, which kind of sucks a little.
