What's the way to make my users with locally connected deskjets always default to the 2x Univ Printer? Network printer defaults are set by scripts and for these users I need the default to be local 2x printer instead.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

within the 2xClient set "Use the following printer" under options -> 2xUniversalPrinter.

    Kind regards,

Thanks for the reply. Your solution would be fine if I wasn't pushing out client settings with the console. Because I'm pushing client settings, the Options on an individual client are grayed out. On the other hand if I force the 2x printer in clients settings on the console, it will apply to all users which I don't want.

you can have policies per user or group on the console

Thanks for the reply. Actually as I look at the settings in the 2x client more closely I realize the option I need isn't there, regardless of whether I push for a user or group. What I'm looking for is not a way to set which printer the 2x Univ Printer prints to, instead I need to set the 2x Universal Printer to be the default printer in the user's session. This may be something I have to do outside of the 2x policies.

So to summarize: all users logon to term session and see 2x Universal Printer, but some of those users need the 2x Univesal Printer to be the default for that session.

    Thanks

You'll need to use a login script and assign it via GPO. Set a delay though, or new users loggin in for the first time will have issues when the desktop settings are applied. Make a bat file with the following:

    ping -n 20 0.0.0.0
    RUNDLL32 PRINTUI.DLL,PrintUIEntry /y /n "2X Universal Printer"

Save it as something you'll recognize and assign it in the USER settings.
