I have Dell 3000cn color laser printer. It prints OK in pure Windows but only in black and white on the Mac and in Parallels. I am using Bonjour in Parallels. How does one get it to print in color in Parallels? Thanks very much for any suggestins. James
I've got a bunch of color printers configured in both OS X and in XP under Parallels. All do exactly what I expect of them. I suspect your challenge could lie in the XP application you're using (i.e. MS PowerPoint can be a real bear to get to print in color unless you've been down the print in color path before). Might this be your challenge?
Sounds as if you have a Mac driver that does not support colour. Bonjour prints from windows to the printer as shared by the Mac, so it has the same limitation. I can see two choices. 1. Find a better Mac driver that supports colour, and you will get colour for Windows too via Bonjour 2. Download the Windows driver for your printer and install it in Parallels. Print directly by USB from Windows. That does not work for every printer, but it does for both of mine (an Epson inkjet and a Brother laser). And of course it won't give you colour on the Mac side unless you can get Bonjour working in the opposite direction.
Thanks for the comments. I don't think it's the particular application. I've tried printing a color document in Word and also printing a printer test page. In Bonjour, they come out in black and white. If I install other printer drivers in Parallels including the Dell 3000cn driver, the printer stalls at printing. Although a few people have said on the web that they got color printing from a Dell 3000cn on the Mac, I have been unable to duplicate their success even when I follow their instructions. I could live with color only in Parallels (and skip the Mac color) but I have been unable to get it to work. I'd appreciate any other suggestions. Thanks. James
