I've got Parallels 5 running on my Mac Intel 10.4.11 with Windows XP home. I recently installed both Parallels and XP and can't get USB storage devices (two different card readers) or my printer to mount. When I plug in a card reader I get the message "Unable to connect the USB device to your virtual machine. The device cannot be connected now. Please try again later." I've read other posts about going to Device Manager and Parallels preferences and nothing works. While one of the card readers and my printer have CD's with drivers, I can't install the drivers until Windows allows me to mount the devices and it never does. I've never run Windows before so don't know its ins and outs nor do I know any tricks with Parallels. FYI, when I go to Device Manager it lists under USB an Intel Universal Host Controller 2658 and Enhanced Host Controller 265C and two (2) USB Root Hubs, but never a specific device. How do I get Parallels to mount my USB devices??
