I've just set up the Parallels trial and am trying to get Windows (host OS) and Fedora Core 6 (guest OS) to talk to each other properly so I can transfer files between the two. I'm having very little luck so far.

I've got as far as the Windows 'machine' showing up on the network in Fedora and I can view the contents of a Windows folder I shared, but if I try to copy any files to the Linux drive, I get permission denied.

The folder is shared as read and write in Windows, but I get the feeling this is going to be down to Media Center Edition effectively being XP Home and not having proper permissions. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for getting this to work?

    Thanks,
    Adam

You might provide a little more info about the exact Linux device/partiton you are trying to write to. It looks like you haven't set Linux permissions/ownership properly. A VM is just like another computer on a network, and Linux permissions generally default to deny world access. If your host is firewalled, then just setting the Linux permissions to allow world to read and write is the simplest solution. You should be able to do this in your Samba setup tool.
