Running on my Mac parallels and xp and after a windows update I now get an error that reads
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
How do I fix this problem? I tried booting from the xp cd but I guess because I am in parallels that does not work? Please help

I am having the same issue. New to Mac OS X and Parallels so no idea how to fix this issue. Is this file somewhere on the Hard Disk so we can just overwrite it with a new one from an XP machine?
    Please help (2)
    Thanks

I don't know if this will help or hurt. I did a Google search and came up with the following:

    http://www.tuneupadvisor.com/fix-exe.aspx

I assume no responsibility for the goodness of this service or product.

'ntoskrnl' is part of the OS, and there are several versions of it on the XP disk depending on your hardware.

Do a 'repair install' off the XP cd and it should fix the problem.

Thanks for the input. Do I just need to boot off the XP cd? When I insert it with OS X running the idsk is not recognized. I cannot get it to boot off the CD. Sorry for the silly questions but I am new to OS X.
