Hello All, I am having a problem with my Macbook Pro 2011. It needs to be fixed and there will be a 1-2 week turnaround. (Or more.) This is a problem Apple is fixing but I live in Santiago Chile. So, I have no idea how long I will not have my Macbook 2011 back. They fix it here. I have an old Macbook 2008 that I have kept updated with the very basic mac software. No Parallels, Windows, etc. Both machines are 500GB hard drives running 10.7.5. The 2011 has 8MB Ram the 2008 has 4MB Ram. My current Mac has: Parallels: Build 7.0.15107 (Revision 796624; September 3, 2012) Windows XP VM with Office 2004, Adobe Pro Windows 7 VM with Office 2011, Quickbooks 2014, Quicken 2014, Adobe Pro I have backed both machines up with Time Machine. (So I can restore the old 2008 MBP after I use it during the fix.) The 2011 is also backed up another fresh Time Machine and with Carbon Copy. OK. Some questions. 1.) Do I just do a Time Machine migration from the 2011 Time Machine to the 2008 machine? 2.) I just keep the 2008 machine "as is"? Nothing needs to be done to the drive? 3.) Will I have to reinstall anything in WXP or W7? 4.) Will I have to input Microsoft or Adobe licenses into the 2008 VM's? 5.) Then I use my 2011 Time Machine as the Time Machine for the 2008 while the 2011 is getting fixed? 6.) Then reverse the whole process again when I get the 2011 back? (And restore the 2008 Time Machine into the 2008?) 7.) Do I have to do anything to the drives? I know that is a lot of questions! But, I am desperate. I run 2 businesses from the 2011 and even when I go on vacation I have to work 2 hours a day! I am willing to pay for phone consulting if needed! Thank you! David PS: All of the Windows stuff is multiple backed up too.
