I had Parallels installed on my Mac and a virtual copy of my Windows desktop from my prior work client. I left the company and before i could back up my desktop, i foolishly logged into the companies VPN one last time to check old email. They pushed out some software (deleting the .dll i assume) which now prompts the following error when trying to boot up: "The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfc.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." After logging in, i get the following error, a blank desktop and then the os reboots. "One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful." How can I recover the data from this parallels image? I have a personal licensed copy of windows xp that i can install and I know the data is still in the .pvs. Can I import it or recover it? I have the data saved as a single 30GB file which doesnt seem accessible w/o parallels. Thanks, jeremy
hi, if you want just extract some private data from image (documents and etc.) you can use for it Parallels Image Tool (from Applications/Parallels dir). Also hard disk image can be attached to another Parallels VM (which you probably have and which start up successfully) and be seen there as another volume (to do it go to the VM configuration editor when PD startup and add new hard disk device bint to your hard disk image file).
Try http://www.diskemergency.com where you recover your data easily. You just submit your problem online and get the job done in short time.
