I am trying to install XP in parallels on my Mac.

I successfully installed the parallels software, and then began to set up my VM. Typed in the install key for XP software, and then it seems to work off the disc, but it doesn't seem to fully install XP. Get to a screen that shows the configuration for the VM, and press "play" and get a DOS-like screen that simply reports "Boot from hard drive...." and hangs.

    Any thoughts?

Please disregard this post--I got everything to work okay (with one exception, which I may try in a different thread).

For some reason, the install worked after about half a dozen attempts where I got the "booting from hard disk" message. Then, XP began to install but failed because it said repeatedly that one of the devices was not ready, but would not specify which one.

For whatever reason, I persevered and XP installed and is up and running.

I had this same issue on a fresh Parallels install. I found a few others having the same issue also here and here. I think there was one more thread somewhere about it also that I can't find. In any event, they didn't have any solutions on any of them that worked for me. I couldn't get past the first reinstall where it was supposed to go into the CD install part.

I tried deleting the VM and reinstalling Windows (express install) numerous times and it never worked.

I finally got it up and working by uninstalling Parallels and reinstalling it. Hope this helps someone.
