What is the general recommendation for HDD allocation when installing bootcamp

I've been running VM to avoid losing space (I'm already down to 30GB of 160 on my MBP)
Now I want to run coherence, so I guess bootcamp and partitioning is the only option

I haven't been able to find a clear answer on this, any advice is appreciated

You can't make disk space with partitioning - actually you loose a little.

right, i'm not trying to make space, rather I'm trying to allocate an amount which minimizes my storage loss for os x, but doesn't limit the potential of parallels

Parallels doesn't need partitioning, it runs inside of your existing partitions in a file just like any other file on your system. If you only have one partition, then making more to put Parallels VMs inside of will not have any effect except to loose the space not used by your VMs. If you have a question about how to allocate space for a bootcamp installation, ask in the Mac forum and you should get a good answer.

Coherence and bootcamp are different. One is not required for the other.
