Hi there, sorry for the dumb question......

I have been using Parallels for a while, having purchased a copy in Jan 07. When the recent upgrade offer came in I bought a copy. I then checked for updates within Parallels and downloaded the new .dmg. The install went OK and now my version number says 3212. Is this Desktop 3.0?

The reason I am confused is that I have not been asked for any activation keys at any time.....

    The details page states:

License Status:This is an active copy of Parallels Desktop
    User Name:---
    Company Name:---
    Product ID: 00006-xxxxxxxxxx-000004
    Validity period:Not limited
    Primary OS(es):Mac OS X
    Terminal Services:No
    Virtual Machine Features:
    Virtualization Mode:Intel VT-x
    Remote Session:Off

    Many thanks for your help
    Steve

You do not have 3.0. You need to download 3.0 by following the Download link at the top of this page. What you got was an update for 2.5, not an upgrade to 3.0. Both versions are being supported and that process has led to this confusion. For the record if you update, you modify the current version. If you upgrade you move to a newer version. The current build is 4128.

Before you do upgrade to 3.0 be certain you make a copy of the *stopped*, not suspended, virtual machines you have as 3.0 will modify them and you cannot go back to 2.5 unless you have the copies.
