I was able to install it, but I'm not convinced I did it properly; Parallels tools will not install. Any ideas?

    Hello,

Could you let us know what happens when you try to install Parallels Tools. If you get any kind of error message try to send a screen shot of that.

    I have a unique setup...

I'm running an older MacBook Pro (intel-based) with 2GB RAM. I have Windows 7 RC installed as a virtual machine using parallels. I think I may have gotten the tools to install - the mouse works - but I am unable to get the shared folders to work. I have tried drag-and-drop, going through your FAQs for the tutorial on how to set them up. The VM recognizes my shared folders, but does not see the contents. I mapped to the network drive - it says it's disconnected. Also, the VM does not recognize my USB ports. They are not in the 'configure' screen. When I click on the //.PSF folder in the network, it says it cannot access it; the troubleshooter reaches a dead end. When I installed Windows 7, I used the 'other Windows' choice since it's not Vista or XP. Does this information help? I'm sorry, but I can't figure out how to do screenshots. My right click also seems to not work in the VM.

Have tried to run Parallels V4 with Windows & RC.

    Find there are three problems:
    1. The shared folders do not show in windows explorer
    2. The Mac sound is not activated from the Win 7
    3. It does not connect to the internet.

I have put is a support ticket.

    Well that's frustrating

Has anyone ever fixed the file sharing problem, or is it just a problem? I did get the internet to work, actually - I told it to bridge through my airport and it works! However, the other two issues are going to make or break this for me.

Hi I installed the win 7 RC and it went ok, the parallel tools were installed ok. Both network and share works fine. USB ok too.

However the sound do not work. Itryed to reinstall parallel tools - didnt help.

I find win7rc somewhat slower both to start and to work on ( a free guess is somewhat 15-20%)

Just installed Windows 7 RC (7100) without a hitch. Without Parallel Tools, the device manager showed 3 devices without drivers: Ethernet, Sound, and a PCI device. Once I install the Tools, all were resolved and everything appears to be working properly. Shared network works fine as well as the sound. I am running this on a new MacBook Pro 13.

I downloaded the trial of Parallels and installed with out any problems. I used Windows 7 RTM version and it runs fine. My network settings work as does the trackpad. I found that the tools need to be installed via the cd drive. What I mean is click to install the TOOLS. Nothing will happen but if you go to MY COMPUTER there will be a cd in the cd drive. Double click that and it should install.

We are an eng. firm that uses autocad. I just tried to install acad 2010 but its not running very well. Im thinking its a graphics card problem. I have a brand new MacBook Pro 2.66ghz with the 256mb extra graphics card. But im not sure its activated. Has anyone else tried this? I dont want to buy parallels if I cant run autocad and solidworks. I will have to go the bootcamp route..

Just thought I would post for those haveing trouble.

    Thanks
    Dusty
