    Hi,

I have a 2009 MacBookPro with 8GB memory running Leopard.
In Parallels Desktop 5 I run Windows 7.
If I assign 4GB of memory to the VM, it shows that 2815 MB is available; however, if I add 2GB (assign 6GB), the same amount is available.
Using the resource monitor from the Windows task manager, I can see that the extra memory gets assigned to the "Hardware reserved" part.
How can I change that, so I can actually use the extra memory?

    Hi Frank,
maximum amount of memory that can be allocated to any 32-bit Windows OS is 4 GB, 1 GB of which is always reserved for system resources (that is why you have only 2815 MB available).

Hm, I think I just assumed that an OS from 2009 no longer would have such weird limitations..

    Thanks for the clarification!
