Hi Maria, This is already possible and used extensively. Most of the people, who are low on disk space, prefer to move some virtual machines from the internal drive to the external and run them from there. By default, you can find your virtual machine at /Users/<your user name>/Parallels/. Simply make sure they are not running and move them to the external drive.
