I have two guest OSs installed in Parallels Desktop, Windows 7 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Both appear in the Virtual Machines List pop-up. Neither OS was running at the time of this incident. As I went to click to open the Windows OS, it suddenly disappeared from the list. Now I cannot open or even find Windows. There are no applications in ~/Applications (Parallels)/. The Windows 7 pvm file still exists in my ~/Documents/Parallels/ folder. The other VM opens and runs correctly. How can I retrieve the Windows VM?

Host: MacPro, Mountain Lion; Parallels 8.0.18608

    Thanks for any help.

Have you tried adding it back into the list?

By what process? My choices appear to be to add a new virtual machine from a disk (image or physical) or to add an existing. Does a pvm file equal an existing VM? (And sorry to sound so dumb if it does.) I couldn't find pvm files in the knowledgebase. If you can point me to that info, I'd be happy to learn.

Ah, I guess it does! (sheepish grin). Well, now I just have to see what happened to my applications. You learn something new every day....

Does the actual VM show up on the HD where your stored it? If so then go to file, then open or click on the plus then open.
