Guest OS direct access to hardware possible?

Hi,

Is there a way for Parallels to allow a Guest OS to see a piece of physical hardware - specifically, a network card - that the Host OS does not know is installed? I want the Guest OS to completely manage the physical hardware NIC as its own, with its own drivers, without any virtualization between the Guest OS and the hardware, except, perhaps, some basic VM to hardware addressing.

Is this currently possible with Parallels?

Hello Bill,

It is not currently possible for Parallels to manage the physical hardware as its own. However the new Intel technology - VT-d - allows to realize this sort of things and we are working to implement this technology in future versions of our products.
