Using Parallels 6.0.11826 on OS X 10.6.4 with Growl 1.2.1 When Time Machine runs, Growl displays this notification: "Time Machine backup is in progress." As Parallels must register with Growl (more on this below), I'm pretty sure this is a Parallels issue and not Growl. This is very misleading as I have deselected Time Machine backup of the vm's within Time Machine and Parallels. I'm lucky I use TimeMachineEditor so that Time Machine only runs once a day, not every hour. Otherwise my screen would be filled with notifications when I returned to my computer. Just now I've tracked down the problem. Parallels sends the following to Growl: >> Short Message = "Time Machine backup is in progress." And doesn't send this: >> Long Message = "Your virtual machines may work slower during the backup." For the next update to Parallels please consider giving users the option to decide which Growl notifications will be displayed. Currently, it's all messages or none within Growl. In the mean time, I've disabled Growl notifications for Parallels, even though I have no idea what else I'll be missing. Also, in case anyone missed it, applications must register with Growl. Growl takes whatever the applications sends and has the ability to allow users to choose what notifications are displayed if the application provides that to Growl. Same message, no Growl I'm getting the exact same message: "Time Machine Backup In Progress Your virtual machine may run a little slower..." However, I don't have Growl installed, and I do use Parallels Desktop 7 with Time Machine running on the Mac side. Is there any way to disable this annoying notification?
