I'm running Parallels Workstation 2.2 on WinXp, with Ubuntu guest OS.

My guest OS runs at 1280x720, but my host OS is running at 1680x1050 (widescreen) (using an Nvidia card, if that's relevant). Switching to fullscreen mode on the guest OS looks a little fuzzy.

Googling has led me to many pages (all for OS X) that had me try replacing my xorg.conf or run dpkg-reconfigure on the xserver. None of these options did anything to increase the list of available resolutions, and the replacement xorg.conf just annoyed it (forcing me to fall back to the recreated generic)

Looking in /var/log/Xorg.0.log I see it loads the VESA driver, loads a great many modes, says that it is unable to estimate size, and rejects all the modes as "no mode of this name". It then tries again ("less strict filter") and rejects them again with "hsync out of range". It then decides the size is 1280x720, and uses that and a few other modes.

Help is most welcome. Thanks in advance!
