Getting Diablo II (original) to run on Windows 11 ARM/Parallels

Since we don't know when the Resurrected version of Diablo II will ever work on Windows 11 ARM, I reinstalled the original Windows version of Diablo II.
It installed fine and after playing with a few of the options (not in the game itself but when you right click the application file and go to Properties) I got the game to start on a fairly regular basis. Now - after the last Windows update - I can't even get that far. An error message screen comes up and my only option is to click OK which closes the program. (Forgive me - I didn't write down the full error message.)
Anyone else see this and what settings in Properties did you you to get the program to run properly? Frustrating because I had it running and something in the last Windows update screwed the pooch.
