After installing the latest Parallels update: 8.018494, my 27" iMac is now experiencing freezing followed by a cannot connect to disk 0 error. I have run Mac disk utilities and verified the disk and permissions. I can run the Mac without starting Parallels without issues, but soon after starting Parallels, I will get freezing of the system. This problem did not occur with the previous build. Anyone else experiencing this? Any resolution or work around?

Do you have any antiviruses on the Mac side? Disable it temporarily.
I'd start with an easy reinstall to avoid any possibility of corrupted update:
    1. Uninstall Parallels Desktop with http://kb.parallels.com/114624
    2. Download and install it again.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I did as directed. No antivirus installed on the Mac side. Uninstalled Parallels Desktop according to the KB 114624 (drag the app into the trash and empty trash). I downloaded Parallels 8 from the link and re-installed. It did not work. "An error occurred while accessing the Hard Disk 0 used by "Windows 7 x64". Error ID: PRL_ERR_DISK_READ_FAILED (80021029), errno=35 (Resource temporarily unavailable). RETRY (which doesn't work) STOP.

My Mac version is Mountain Lion 10.8.4. My power settings are set to not put the HDD to sleep. This issue appeared only after the latest update to Parallels. I had no other changes or program additions. Is there a link to install the previous version while keeping my VM? Or any other ideas for me to try?

Problem solved. I performed a surface scan on the Mac HDD - no problems. I tried copying the PVM file but it gave an error trying to copy. It was corrupt. Windows chkdsk does not work. Fortunately, I had a back-up copy of my PVM. I deleted the PVM on my Mac and copied the back up PVM to the Mac. (Documents/Parallels/) It now works fine. For people who do not have a back up of their PVM that run into the same problem, it looks like you'd need to start over.
