    ---+ Problem:
FrameMaker (on Windows, on Parallels, on Mac OS-X) keeps stealing focus.

    ---+ Detail:
I have Parallels mainly to run FrameMaker on my Mac. I run Framemaker both interactively, and from Makefiles and shell scripts using "open foo.mif" and "open foo.fm" and "open foo.book", using Mac OS-X /usr/bin/open command from the Makefile or shell script.
Since the Makefiles and shell scripts can take a long time, I would like to be able to do something else while they are running.

Unfortunately, when a new "open foo.mif" etc. command is run, FrameMaker steals focus from whatever Mac app I am running (typically GNU emacs, sometimes Chrome or Safari or Mail.app or ...) and then my keyboard or mouse events get sent to the wrong place. Corrupting the Framemaker file, and frequently introducing bugs in the program I was working on. On several occasions Parallels has crashed when this has happened.

    ---+ Configuration:

FrameMaker 11 (11.0.2.384), copyright 2012. (I also have FrameMaker 10 and 12 - I believe that same problem has occurred).
    Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
    Parallels 11.2.0-32581
    Mac OS-X Yosemite 10.10.5

    ---+ What I have tried:

I googled for things like "Parallels Mac focus stealing".
I tried "Bring notification window to front" enabled in Configuration Editor, Coherence section.
in older versions of Parallels - but the current version of Parallels does not have this option (I think it may have been replaced by "Dock icons bounce", which does not work, see below)

    http://kb.parallels.com/en/6909
SmartMouse - all settings of Optimize for Games / Don't optimize for games / Auto-detect for games

    I have Parallels Tools installed.

I have tried both in Coherence and not-in-coherence.

I have tried assigning Parallels to a different space, separate from the space I am using EMACS in. No help - I get switched back to FrameMaker.

I have tried ... Configure > Options > Applications > Dock icons bounce to alert.
(I think that I have never seen the FrameMaker icon bounce, although I think that I have seen other windows app icons bounce)

    I have tried setting
"Application is background only" to YES
    in info.plist
for the Mac app wrapper for the Windows FrameMaker
    Adobe FrameMaker 11.app

    (also in "Parallels Desktop.app")
